Registered Manager – Children's Home (EBD / Physical Disability) Salary: From £48,000 per annum (plus KPI-linked incentive scheme) Location: North West England Service: Children's residential home – currently single occupancy, transitioning to two-resident Regulation: Ofsted (Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015) We are seeking a decisive, experienced Registered Manager to lead a single children's home from its current unregistered solo placement through to full Ofsted registration, and in time to a stable two-resident provision. The home is already up and running, with the registration application drafted and ready to progress. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can combine genuine sensitivity to a young person's needs with the clarity and firmness required to lead a behaviourally challenging environment. The resident primarily presents with a physical disability, with behaviour as the main day-to-day challenge and a low-level element of learning difficulty. A balanced approach across both EBD and physical disability is essential. Key Duties •Act as the Ofsted Registered Manager for the home. •Provide strong, decisive, on-site leadership to a 3:1 support staff team. •Maintain and stabilise the current placement, building on progress already made. •Apply established organisational practices and procedures, adapting them meaningfully to this home. •Progress the home from unregistered to fully Ofsted-registered. •Prepare the service to safely introduce a second resident once stable. •Deputise for the wider service's Registered Manager during periods of leave or sickness. •Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding duties. Essential Requirements •Demonstrable experience managing an EBD children's home. •A balanced background across behaviourally challenging environments and physical disability. •A direct, decisive leadership style paired with genuine sensitivity to resident needs. •Flexibility to deputise across the wider provision when required. •Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it. •Sound knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted expectations. •Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to young people's welfare. •Enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete one. Desirable •Experience taking a home through the Ofsted registration process. •Experience setting up or transitioning a home to multi-occupancy. •Some exposure to learning difficulty alongside EBD and physical disability. •Experience supporting a young person with a complex placement history. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be confident, organised and decisive, able to hold a firm line while remaining attuned to the resident's needs. They will understand Ofsted expectations, adopt and adapt established methodology, support a small staff team well, and take a strategic view that delivers stability, registration and growth — giving a young person who has experienced significant instability a genuinely stable, long-term home.
